I almost never return a book to the library unread. Maybe once or twice a year. This is one of such cases. The Bronze Horseman has been sitting on my bedside table waiting for me to start reading it for over a month. It’s due to be returned tomorrow and I've already used up the extension period, which means it will go back to the library unread.
It was just something stopping me from starting this book. Firstly, I had less time to read than usually because of Easter preparations. Then, I was a little unusually intimidated by the over-six-hundred-page thick bulk. And on top of it, I felt compelled to reread The Twilight Saga (I’ve been really into it, too, I’ve finished New Moon, Eclipse and I’m past half of Breaking Dawn) and I’m having a blast while at it.
Unfortunately, all that means no Bronze Horseman for the time being. I will try to get at it another time, though, because I really want to read it, it seems such an intriguing book.
Aw, it's too bad when this happens! But yes, you can borrow it some other time and it seems you might enjoy it, as the cover suugest WW2 themes. I'm also glad you're having fun re-reading a favourite saga.
ReplyDeleteAwww it's a really great book! One of my favorite reads of this year (so far). But I know how you feel... I get books out of the library and then somehow never find the time to get to them. That's probably going to happen with Bloodroot, which I have out from the library now, but I'm totally sucked into that George RR Martin series right now.
ReplyDeleteOh, you have got to go back and read this book at some point. Next to Outlander, it is one of my all-time favourite books. Don't let the size intimidate you. It is worth the read. If you want to, I have a review on my blog. Come and check it out at www.mandysescape.blogspot.com
