Reporting from the Hiatus: I'm Still Alive

I've realised it's been more than two months since I last posted anything, so I think it's high time to pop in and tell you what has been going on.

As I told you before, my biggest reason for taking a break from blogging was a reading rut, which has been really horrible. I only picked up my reading this month, and, though I'm not nearly reading as much as I used to, I'm nearing towards finishing my first book this year. Wow. Terrible, I know. I am finally enjoying reading again, though, so I think I'll be back on track sooner or later. However, I considerably lowered my reading goals, aiming for the quality and enjoyment instead of quantity.

So, what have I been doing during this time instead of reading? (Besides the usual real life things, which I'm not getting into, I'm sure you can imagine)

Well, mostly I've been trying to distract myself from the stuff that stresses me out and that isn't getting better (financial situation and related things plus depression and anxiety and the like) and stay positive. The reading rut has definitely been partly a consequence of stress, because too often I just couldn't/can't muster the strength to focus.

I have been spending too much time on tumblr (which reminds me, I have to update the link if any of you want to see the fangirl side of me). I've been catching up with some TV shows: I started Merlin (Where was I that I didn't watch it earlier? I'm currently through season two), although the show that has taken over my life lately (okay, almost) is Revolution, so, consequently I had to watch Sea Patrol and also almost every movie with David Lyons in it.

I've been writing quite a lot, both fanfiction and my original stories. So, I haven't completely abandoned the world of a written word. (I don't think it's be possible, anyway).

I've started missing blogging lately, which is a good sign. I think I'll be ready to resume it soon, but give me a few more weeks, until after Easter. Then you can expect book reviews again, and I'm also planning to review some of the things I've watched recently (or not so recently).

Finally, I hope you are all doing fine. I am really grateful to all of you who are sticking with me and not jumping the ship during my radio silence. ;)

PS: Her Majesty the Cat is weathering my hard times completely unaffected, purring with happiness, offering me her sympathy when I need it, and has been all in all a piece of sunshine in my life (although we do have grumpy conversations sometimes, lol). She says hello, too. :)

  4. Sorry to hear that you've been having a hard time :( I can relate to some of the real life issues that you're going through. I often go through reading slumps as well. I'm actually just sort of getting out of one now. It's hard when you seem to stop enjoying the things you usually love. Take your time to get the rest you need. Watch all the TV you want and hopefully you'll fee better soon :)

    1. Yes, it's a bummer when things that usually make you feel good suddenly don't. But we have other stuff, to turn, too.

      Thanks!

  5. I totally understand financial stresses. Recently the company that me and my husband BOTH worked at basically closed! :( It was 03/08, so its been almost a month now, and we are both still unemployed! And we have 2 kids. :(

BUT- it will be ok. everything will be!
Im glad that you are writing, even if its just a little.

and hopefully you will come back to blogging soon!!
